Dishonored

Dishonored is a game set in the steam punk City of Dunwall which is a city based on London or Edinburgh during the late 1800s to early 1900s. the city is suffering from a massive plague which is killing millions. You play as Corvo The empresses legendary bodyguard who is framed with the murder of his beloved empress. As he seeks revenge he is aided by an all powerful being called The Outsider who gives him some magical abilities. The game is played from the first person point of view.
The Game in general very Dark not just in the story line but in the graphics itself as many of the missions are conducted at night or In dark stone buildings. The game itself has a slightly cartoonish look about it with is smooth colours that kind of merge together. this is very much steampunk with its machines with huge cogs and flintlock pistols. The entire city of Dunwall has a very ragged look to it that really gives the impression that its is a city full of death and disease. There is paper and litter covering the streets and the Rats who carried the Disease lay around every corner . One of my favorite parts of this Game is the Mask that Corvo wears on his missions. It is shaped like the face of a skull but many cool steampunk gadgets have be added on to give it a really epic look.

Ryse Son of Rome

Ryse Son of Rome

This is a newly Released game for the Xbox 1and is an exclusive  This Game is Set in Roman times. It is a fictional story about Marius who is a Young Roman soldier out for Revenge after his family gets murdered by Barbarians. The Graphics in this game are stunningly beautiful. It is nearly like being in control of your own action movie. It quiet scary how realistic they can make games now a days. Even the helmet probable has more pixels than most movies from 10 years back do. Now onto the Art side of this game well apart from the obvious beauty of the in-game graphics the Concept art is Lovely although some of them are not as sharp as the in- game graphics they are still excellent and this game well deserves to win prizes on graphics. I love the way that some of the Artist use a kind of blurred affect at the edges of the figure or tree. for some reason it makes the picture look like it is in action or that the character is moving. This is a excellent looking game that is well worth a play and Hats of to all who worked on the Artwork as it is truly epic. Here is some of the cool Artwork I have seen.

Dei Gaztelumendi

He is a young Spanish artist who works for a magazine company, Xabiroi, He designs epic front covers. His style is slightly cartoony almost manga style. He usually uses a computer to draw, adding many layers to the picture giving it tonnes of detail. He often records them and uploads them onto youtube so you can watch him actually drawing them, it's amazing I have include one of the videos so you can watch it yourself. He has won a few awards for his work including the 'Milano International film festival' for his film ''Earlth and Moonch''. He has his own website ''Deisign'' where he posts his pictures. He has a Facebook page and a twitter page where you can follow him. He specializes in post apocalyptic kids and creatures. He speaks Spanish and English. He went to Sheridan college near Toronto, Canada. I really like his style and the themes he draws on. He is one of my favorite artists. He now Works for Paramount pictures. This video I have included is of him doing a time-lapse.

The Elder scrolls Skyrim

The Elder Scrolls Skyrim Concept Art

Many may know of the Elder scrolls series which includes Morrowind, Oblivion and the latest in the series (If you don't count the Elder Scrolls online) Skyrim which was released in 2005 by Bethesda Game studios. This is a Game that I have played many hours of and it is very enjoyable. It is well worthwhile to get a copy and play it. This is an excellent game with its huge open world environment filled with Dungeons, Dragons and many random events and quests. The environment of Skyrim is epic with its high snowy mountains in the middle and in the west, its marshy swamps in the north-west and the plains of Whiterun in the centre. Enough about the game lets talk about the Artwork.
I love the Artwork of this game, it has its own style of Art that just looks Awesome. One of the Head Artists was Adam Adamowicz who was a complete legend of an artist and worked on the Fallout games and Skyrim, He was truly one of the Best sadly he died in 2012, May he rest in Peace. His artwork is legendary and most of it is of the world of Skyrim. Some of the concept art is on Beasts or Armor sets that don't exist in the game but all are still equally as cool as the one in-game. Here is some of the Concept Art.

The Last of Us Concept Art

The Last of Us is based in the Post-Apocalyptic world of America. Joel and Ellie are the main characters. The remaining Humans live in heavily Quarantined parts of the cities but once outside the Quarantined area you enter the long abandoned streets of America which have been long since reclaimed by nature. The concept art of the last of us is beautiful with its industrial cities inter-twined with trees and huge crawling vines running up and around buildings. This is one of the most realistic looking games ever and has won many awards to do with graphics and the actual game itself.

The colours in the pictures are excellent with its mix of somber greys of the buildings and the bright green vegetation that has truly taken over the streets and cities of America. The Artwork actually makes you wonder that when or if Humans no longer inhabit their cities is this what they will look like if so our cities will be a sight to see. This is one of the games that you have to play or even see as there is very few games out now with such beautiful scenery. So I take my hat of to all of the artists who worked on this wonderful game.
